Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel arrested seven fishermen along with 2650Kg of illegally harvested shark fish (Alopias Vulpinus and Carcharhinus Longimanus) in violation of the provisions stipulated in Extraordinary Gazette No.1938/2 dated 26th October 2015, at Negambo Fisheries harbour, on 21st July 2026.
The shark fish was concealed in a multi-day fishing vessel.
The fishermen along with the seized consignment of shark fish and fishing vessel were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Negambo for legal proceedings.
ශ්රී ලංකා වෙරළ ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් අද (2026 ජුලි මස 21) දින උදෑසන මීගමුව ධීවර වරායේ සිදුකරන ලද විශේෂ මෙහෙයුමකදී වර්ෂ 2015 ඔක්තොබර් මස 26 වන දිනැති අංක 1938/2 දරන අති විශේෂ ගැසට් පත්රයේ විධි විධාන උල්ලංඝනය කරමින් අල්ලන ලද පොල්කොල මෝර මසුන් (Alopias Vulpinus and Carcharhinus Longimanus) කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 2650 කට අධික ප්රමාණයක් සහ ධීවරයන් හත් (07) දෙනෙකු සහ මෙරට බහුදින ධීවර යාත්රාවක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
ඒ අනුව, අත් අඩංගුවට ගත් ධීවරයන්, මෝර මත්ස්ය තොගය සහ ධීවර යාත්රාව ඉදිරි නීතිමය කටයුතු සඳහා මීගමුව සහකාර ධීවර අධ්යක්ෂක කාර්යාලය වෙත භාර දීමට කටයුතු කෙරිණි.
